As the state’s flagship university, the University of South Carolina is governed by a board of trustees appointed by the governor and state lawmakers.
In addition, the university's leadership includes board-approved officers responsible for management and oversight of academics, research, finances, giving, technology, human resources, student affairs, communications and the greater university system.
Board of Trustees
The board includes the governor, the state education superintendent, 16 members appointed by state lawmakers from each of the state’s judicial circuits and the president of the Alumni Association.
