The Office of Fellowships and Scholar Programs is pleased to announce Vernon Pryor was awarded a 2015 Department of Defense SMART (Science Math and Research for Transformation) Scholarship. The SMART program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. The scholarship provides Pryor with full tuition and fees, a living stipend, summer research internships, mentoring, and employment placement with the DoD after graduation. In 2015, 207 scholarships were awarded from over 1800 applications.
Pryor is a current sophomore and electrical engineering major in the College of Engineering and Computing. He is a recipient of the Life Scholarship. For the past two summers, he has interned at SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic in Charleston, SC.
