Prior to studying abroad in Newcastle, Australia, I had never left the country or traveled alone. I was terrified to think of leaving my friends and family behind for nearly five months while simultaneously thrilled about the opportunity to explore the other side of the world. Somewhere between snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef and learning how to drive on the left side of the road in New Zealand, I realized that I had gained confidence in my own independence — which is perhaps my greatest souvenir from such a life-changing trip. Thank you, Carolina, for providing me with so many incredible experiences and friendships that have challenged me to continuously better myself and to get out of my comfort zone. Forever to thee. 

Future plans: Marinna plans to pursue a career as a physician.
