Bachelor of Public Health and Master of Public Administration

I recently heard the phrase “sense is not common” and immediately thought of how two experiences have defined my UofSC story. First, a lawmaking course, taught by Sen. Brad Hutto, led me to pursue a Master of Public Administration degree during which I took courses with local professionals and saw how goals can, and should, change and how individuals’ backgrounds can create unique perceptions of success. Second, mentoring and serving as a role model for a Columbia middle school student through whom I saw firsthand the challenges facing financially struggling families. As scholars, we’ve been provided opportunities that have in many ways made our “sense” uncommon, and thus have a lifelong responsibility to give back to the communities that provided us so much.

Future plans: Morgan will work for Ernst and Young's consulting division on their Government and Public Sector Advisory team in Washington, D.C.
