Apps to help students, faculty, staff navigate campus life

There are plenty of mobile apps students, faculty and staff can use to navigate campus this academic year that are free to the USC community. From placing and tracking food orders to finding parking to staying safe around campus, here are a few key apps for students, faculty and staff.

General

DUO Mobile (Google Play, Apple)

The university’s multifactor authentication system has its own mobile app, helping you gain access to campus systems quickly. Beginning Oct. 17, students, faculty and staff must use Duo Mobile or a hardware security key to complete the authentication process.

RAVE Guardian (Google Play, Apple)

This safety app can provide help to every member of the campus community. The app gives a direct line to USCPD, links to safety resources, has a safety timer that will call police if it goes off and an anonymous tip submission form.

Get Mobile (Google Play, Apple)

Manage your CarolinaCash through this app so that you can conveniently swipe your card to pay for food, bookstore items, athletic event tickets and more.

To connect your accounts through GET Mobile:

  • Visit get.cbord.com/sc
  • Register using your VIP number and university email
  • Confirm your registration via email
  • Download GET MOBILE in the app store

Meescan (Apple, Google Play)

University Libraries now allows self-checkout anytime the library is open through this new app. Grab your general collections materials and go with this new app.

PocketRx (Apple, Google Play)

Refill your prescriptions at Student Health, get refill reminders and read about your medications all on this handy app.

Parking

ParkUSC (Apple, Google Play)

Find a parking space in our surface lots quickly and easily with this crowdsourcing app. It can remind you where you parked as well and help you navigate campus easily.

Transloc (Google Play, Apple)

Track USC Transit buses in real-time, schedule your trips across campus and reserve your night-and-weekend on-demand shuttle rides on this app. Students, faculty and staff who are approved for paratransit can also use this app to schedule a service.

Passport Parking (Google Play, Apple)

Using meters doesn’t require coins anymore. Register your car in this app and pay for temporary parking across campus and in the city of Columbia.

Dining

Grubhub (Google Play, Apple)

Skip the lines in the Russell House and elsewhere on campus to get your food faster. This popular app also helps you get food delivered from off-campus vendors, too. You can also use the Grubhub app to order autonomous robot delivery to a number of spots across central campus.

Nutrislice (Google Play, Apple)

Find out the nutrition information for all your favorite dishes at campus restaurants.

ReusePass

Want to take your food and eat in your dorm room? Use this app to check out a box and get reminded on returning them for future use.

Waitz University (Google Play, Apple)

Find a seat in our Russell House dining areas and help others know how full it is with this crowdsourced seating app.

For students

Navigate (Apple, Google Play)
Create to-do lists, partner with study buddies, view your course schedule, make an appointment with staff, view key campus events and connect with university resources. 

Headspace (Google Play, Apple)

Use the mindfulness and meditation app to build coping and resiliency skills and de-stress with guided meditations, sleep sounds and music. Sign up for free access online.

Cockpit Rewards (Google Play, Apple)

Claim your ticket to support the Gamecocks; earn rewards for each event you attend.

Handshake (Google Play, Apple)
Connect with potential internships, co-ops, part-time and full-time jobs as well as career-related live events.

For families

Parent and Family Programs (Apple, Google Play)

The award-winning USC Parent and Family Programs app provides you with easy access to resources that support a student’s growth and success.
