No. 1 and Rising!

When Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks brought home the third national championship in program history this spring, students rushed to the Thomas Cooper reflecting pond to celebrate. Carolinian was there to capture the moment.

The moment the Gamecocks women’s basketball team sealed the deal, the faithful sprinted to an impromptu celebration at the Thomas Cooper reflecting pool.
It’s not every day that students congregate in the reflecting pool with several hundred of their closest friends, but when they do, they do it in Gamecock style.
Does anything feel better than celebrating a historic victory with your classmates and friends?
It’s one thing to jump into the celebration feet first. It’s quite another to ruin your new Nikes.
After a spirited dip and splash in the pool, students were quick to flash their Gamecock pride.
The fountain spray, blue sky and springtime sun — it was the perfect end to a perfect season.
