Hello Homecoming

Celebrate living in "Sweet Home Carolina" during Homecoming Week 2018

It’s another wonderful year here at the University of South Carolina, and to celebrate the university is hosting a series of events to kick school spirit up to an all-time high in honor of homecoming. Whether it’s dancing on Greene Street or building a canned creation, there is something for everyone to get involved in. Here are a few of the many must-see events going on next week.

Cheer

This year’s homecoming athletic event is the big football game against Tennessee at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27. Whether you’re watching the game from campus or inside Williams-Brice Stadium, you have an opportunity for pregame fueling. Stay hydrated at the homecoming tailgate co-sponsored with Substance Abuse Prevention and Education (SAPE) on Greene Street, or enjoy music from The Maxx at the My Carolina Homecoming Tailgate Party in Gamecock Park. Cocky, the cheerleaders and the Carolina Band will also be there to celebrate.

Both tailgates will be open to the public at 4:30 p.m., but you must preregister for the My Carolina tailgate online.

Celebrate

On Oct. 26, the Carolina’s Best Forum will take place noon–2 p.m. in the My Carolina Alumni Center honoring the 2018 Alumni Award Recipients. This year’s winners are Cindy Jackson, Gerald Evans Jr., Akil Ross, Matthew Schreiber and Anita Zucker. Register for the event and  join the winners as they talk about their experiences at Carolina and their success within their chosen fields.

Create

Cocky’s Canned Creations is Thursday (Oct. 25) the homecoming service event where individuals or groups can join together to create a structure of collected cans and construction paper. Join the fun 11 a.m.–2 p.m. on Greene Street.

Compete

Show what you know at this year’s Breakfast with a Side of Trivia in the Russell House Ballroom 10 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday (Oct. 23). Faculty, staff and students can compete in a battle of brains to show off their random knowledge while enjoying delicious breakfast food. What’s not to love?

Faculty and staff who prefer to be early birds rather than night owls can enjoy breakfast in the Russell House Ballroom from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 24), or join the My Carolina Black Alumni Council at their Breakfast of Champions on Oct. 26. Everybody wins when breakfast is involved.

Cockstock

Carolina Productions, Student Government and the Residence Hall Association cordially invite you to attend this year’s Cockstock homecoming concert on Oct. 26. Join a few thousand of your closest friends 7–10 p.m. on the Greene Street Intramural Fields and party with Daya, whose hits include “Hide Away” and “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” and Iyaz, whose hits include "Replay" and "Solo." Bring your Carolina Card to gain entry.
