62nd annual student art exhibition runs through March 16

Students from the University of South Carolina’s School of Visual Art and Design will display original artwork in a variety of mediums in a juried exhibition, which runs Feb. 23-March 16 at McMaster Gallery.
This is the 62nd year the competition has been held with prizes given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place undergraduate and graduate pieces. One grand prize, Best of Show will be awarded. Catherine Walworth, curator of the Columbia Museum of Art, is this year's juror.
Walworth, who earned her doctorate in Russian art and early film, has worked at the Seattle Art Museum, the McNey Art Museum in San Antonio and the Cleveland Museum of Art. The gallery, located at 1615 Senate St., is free and open to the public 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
