UofSC String Project registration for children, adults is Aug. 30

The String Project, one of the University of South Carolina’s most popular outreach programs, will hold an orientation meeting Aug. 30 for third- through fifth-grade students and adults interested in learning to play a stringed instrument.

The organizational meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the String Project building, located at 851 Park St. directly behind the Koger Center for the Arts. Participating adults and parents of students are encouraged to attend the meeting. Students will also be measured for their instruments.

The cost is $80 for children and $100 for adults. Participants also must provide or rent instruments.

Since its inception in the mid-1970s, the USC String Project has become a model for similar programs at dozens of colleges throughout the country.
