Here we grow again

Facilities Management has been hard at work enhancing the beauty of our wonderful campus, from a state-of-the-art soccer building and a new outdoor track facility to upgrades to existing classrooms and one of our historic Horseshoe buildings. We are proud to share a few of the major projects recently completed and others well underway.

Soccer building, completed May 2016 — The new soccer building, adjacent to the Stone Soccer Stadium, has men’s and women’s locker rooms, lounges and state-of-the art hydrotherapy rooms. It also contains a weight room, film room, training room and rear porch with views of the soccer field.
Legare-Pinckney College, completed July 2016 — Constructed in 1848, renovations to this campus monument, included brand new suite layouts, fixtures, finish replacements and an upgraded fire protection system. The college will house 43 students, who are sure to delight in its new makeover.
Williams–Brice Stadium field, estimated completion August 2016 — Stadium renovations include a new sand-based drainage system, new irrigation and sod. Asphalt previously installed along the east sideline was replaced with new sod and a concrete sidewalk. The west sideline asphalt was also replaced with concrete.
Classroom enhancements, estimated completion August 2016 — This multibuilding project boasts total interior design upgrades in 17 classrooms and two auditoriums. New carpeting, furniture and AV equipment including projectors, monitors and screens were added. View the new additions in auditoriums in Coker and Wardlaw and classroom upgrades in 300 Main, Coliseum, Flinn and McMaster.
Outdoor track, estimated completion Fall 2016 — This project scheduled for completion this fall will include, Mondo track surfacing, brick paver walkway, a restroom building and a new brick entrance to the Athletics Village along Rosewood Drive.
Foundation Square, estimated completion Fall 2016 — This planned public urban park near the Colonial Life Arena will be for the enjoyment and benefit of the entire Columbia community, making Innovista a more attractive place to live, work and learn.
Law School, estimated completion Summer 2017 — The new School of Law will be a unique state‐of‐the-art teaching, learning and support facility that will serve as a northern gateway landmark to the university campus. The building will include a 300‐seat ceremonial courtroom, teaching courtrooms and classrooms, event spaces, an open‐air courtyard and a 24‐hour student commons area located just outside the new law library.
Student Health Center, estimated completion Fall 2017 — This new 68,000-square-foot health center will house Student Health Services, creating a campus center focused on health and mental well-being. The building will contain a wide range of medical and ancillary services, including clinical services, a laboratory, radiology services, a pharmacy, physical therapy space, eye care services and wellness programming.
Aiken Bridge, estimated completion Fall 2016 — Literally connecting the Aiken main campus to the Convocation Center this project will “bridge the gap.” This project is a testament of the teamwork among system campuses … One Carolina for sure.
