USC Controller’s Office earns 14th-straight Excellence in Financial Reporting award

Award recognizes excellence in government accounting and finance reporting

The University of South Carolina Controller’s Office earned its 14th-consecutive Certificate of Achievement in Finance Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for 2024.

The association services the needs of over 20,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.

“Earning this award for 14-straight years, especially with all the significant GASB reporting implementations over the last several years, is a huge accomplishment and one that I am extremely proud of,” says Mandy Kibler, the university’s associate vice president for the division of administration and finance and the university controller. “This achievement demonstrates the dedication of my staff to ensure the highest integrity in financial reporting and continued commitment to being good stewards of the university’s financial resources.”

The university controller’s office gained the certificate, the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance reporting, for its annual comprehensive financial report. The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the document.
