Accessibility updates from Parking and Transportation Services

Paratransit service expanding to include faculty, staff

To continue to make campus more accessible, Parking and Transportation Services has updated its Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible parking and transit options.

Those needing ADA-accessible parking on campus are asked to register their state-issued placard or license plate with Parking and Transportation Services. After registration, you can choose one of two parking permits.

  • Garage parking permit grants you access to ADA spaces in your selected garage plus any ADA spot in one of the over 50 surface lots on campus.
  • Surface lot permit grants you access to any ADA spot in a campus surface lot or any ungated ADA visitor parking in USC garages. A full list of visitor ADA spots can be found on the department’s website.

Paratransit service expanding: Beginning Aug. 19, faculty and staff may use USC’s paratransit service, which was previously only available for students. The service operates weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Faculty and staff are asked to register and be approved by the Employee Relations office to use paratransit.

Other reminders: A valid permit is required to park in any lot at USC. Permits are on sale in the parking portal and go into effect Aug. 15.

July 31 is the last day to purchase a permit and have it mailed to you. Otherwise, permit pick-ups begin Aug. 1 in the Parking and Transportation Service offices at 1500 Pendleton St.

For those planning campus events that require parking arrangements, please complete and submit the online form for reserved parking early to make sure the department can accommodate your request.

The ParkUSC app (Apple, Google Play) has expanded to all surface lots to help the campus community find open parking spaces. Additionally, a new parking guidance system was approved for Bull Street Garage and will be installed during the fall semester.

From the 411, a newsletter focusing on parking and transportation, will debut Aug. 15 and will be distributed every other week to USC parking permit holders. Non-permit holders will be able to sign up for the newsletter online.
