Parking permits changing, go on-sale in July

Campus also adding compliance staff to improve experience for permit holders

The University of South Carolina’s Parking and Transportation Services department will begin selling 2024-25 parking permits in July, with dates varying based on permit level.

Permits changing: The 2024-25 permit will be a hang tag that must be displayed from a rearview mirror or on a dash. Decal permits will not be issued in 2024-25.

Dates to know:

  • June 30 – deadline for employees to opt out of having their parking permit payroll deducted
  • July 1 – Employee permits on sale
  • July 1 – Student garage permit renewals begin (students may also change garages at this time)
  • July 8 – All permits available

Other changes: In addition to the new app ParkUSC (Apple, Google Play), which will help campus community members identify available parking spaces in campus lots, Parking and Transportation Services has also added to its compliance staff to improve the parking experience. The added staff will help create a fair and equitable system for permit holders to use their chosen parking area.

How you can help:

  • Have a current permit properly displayed
  • Park only in your assigned area
  • Do not park in handicap parking stalls (without appropriate state-issued permit), fire lanes, state vehicle stalls, reserved parking areas not assigned to you and no parking areas.
