Reserve study space for Finals Eve event at library

‘Twas the night before finals and all through T-Coop, not a seat was open, not even on Floor Two.

If you’ve experienced finals season at UofSC, you may be familiar with the struggle to find the perfect study spot. Even if you are lucky enough to snag a space during the library’s busiest week, staying focused and energized can be a whole other battle.

Fortunately, there is a perfect solution to these finals dilemmas. University Libraries is hosting a new event for students called Finals Eve. On Dec. 8 from 6 to 10 p.m., the Hollings Library will have guaranteed dedicated study space for up to 75 students with hourly breaks for free coffee, pizza, yoga, meditation and other fun activities.

“We are hoping that including study breaks every hour or so will help increase students’ focus,” says Kathy Dowell, director of communications at University Libraries. “Recent studies show that study breaks can actually help study performance and reduce stress.”

The event is open to any students with a Carolina Card who sign up through the Finals Eve event page. Sign-ups for the event will open Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

The Hollings Library is accessed through the main level of Thomas Cooper Library.

The Student Success center will also be offering services that will help you ace your exams.

Final exam review sessions

The Student Success Center's Supplemental Instruction Leaders and Peer Tutors will hold study review sessions as students prepare for their final exams Dec. 7-15. Review sessions will be held in various locations in Russell House University Union.

Peer Writing and Communications tutors will provide support to students for any of their writing and communications needs for finals Dec. 7-14. This will be held in the Peer Writing and Communications Lab in Sims at Women's Quad.

For a complete list of dates, hours, and locations, visit the Student Success Center website.

Coffee on the Mezz
