Upcoming undergraduate research workshops and deadlines

Magellan Scholar application workshops
The Magellan Scholar student research grant funds up to $3,000 for research, scholarship or creative activities. Applicants are required to attend one workshop. The workshops will be Oct. 3 at 10 a.m, Oct. 7 at 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in Russell House Room 305. The deadline to apply for the Magellan Scholar award is Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. For more information about the award and the application workshops, visit the Undergraduate Research website.
Magellan Mini-Grant application drop-in sessions
The Magellan Mini-Grant funds up to $1,000 in materials and supplies and travels costs associated with research. It is open to UofSC undergraduates in all disciplines on all campuses. Students must be working under the guidance of a faculty, staff or community mentor. The fall deadline is Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. Drop-in sessions are held in Legare 322 from 3 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 2, 3, 9, 16 and 17. Caravel deadline
The deadline to submit to the undergraduate research journal Caravel is Oct. 1. Caravel accepts advanced, original research-based submissions from undergraduate students from all campuses and all majors at the University of South Carolina. Graduates may submit their work within one year of graduation. The journal aims to provide a publication forum for students to showcase their research, creative and scholarly works. Submissions may include, but are not limited to scholarly articles, videos, audio/musical recordings, poetry, plays, short essays and artwork.
