30 students win 2020 Outstanding Senior Awards

Thirty undergraduate seniors from The College of Engineering and Computing were recognized with Outstanding Senior Awards this year. The award recipients were recommended by faculty members and selected based on their academic excellence, undergraduate research participation and active involvement in the college or university community.

The University of South Carolina presented Kevin Gagnon, a computer science student, with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. This award is the university's highest undergraduate honor and recognizes outstanding achievements, campus leadership, exemplary character and service to the community. It is given to one female and male senior each year.

The South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers gave out six of the awards at its banquet on February 17. The recipients were:

  • Brianna Borders, Chemical Engineering
  • Tyler Brant, Electrical Engineering
  • Caleb Conner, Computer Engineering
  • Daniel Cooper, Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Chandler Garrett, Mechanical Engineering
  • Heather Kobilnyk, Biomedical Engineering

Additionally, 24 seniors received Outstanding Senior Awards as part of University Awards Day. The recipients of the college's Outstanding Senior Awards were:
