When engineering and computing students are ready to find an internship, co-op or
job, the Career Center is ready to help. From resume preparation to helping students
with interview skills, the Career Center offers a wide range of professional development
resources to our students.
We want to help you create your career with confidence -from anywhere! Visit us in-person during our new Career Studio hours or schedule a virtual appointment
on Handshake. Be sure to check out other virtual resources such as job fairs and information sessions happening this fall.
An internship is a great way for you to apply your classroom knowledge to the practical
skills you will develop in an actual professional work setting. Internships usually
last the length of a semester and may be part-time or full-time, paid or unpaid. Our
Career Center staff can help you find and secure internships with our employer partners.
Co-ops
Cooperative education, or co-ops, are outside of the classroom learning experiences
that allow students to either work in a professional engineering and computing setting
while attending classes full time or to alternate semesters of work with semesters
of study. Our staff can help you identify the best option for you.
Externships
The Career Center can arrange externships that allow students to visit with our employer
partners to learn about the organization and find out about career opportunities including
internships, co-ops and full-time employment.
Part-time Jobs
Real-world experience while you are in school is an important predictor in your success
after you graduate. Let us help you find jobs on and off campus!
Employer Information
We host companies in our office to help you learn more about working with their organization.
This is a great way to research and network with companies that are hiring.
On-campus Interviews with Employers
We can bring potential employers to you. Some companies interview right here on the
UofSC campus.
Career Exploration
Let us help you figure out which jobs are best for you and your skill set. We have
numerous resources on hand, such as Handshake, to help in the job search.
Job Fairs
We host two Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) job fairs per year. One is in
the Fall, typically in September and the other during the Spring semester, typically
in January.
Presentations and Workshops
For your convenience, we conduct classroom workshops and make career-related presentations
to student groups on site.
Resume Writing
A good resume is critical in finding an internship, co-op, research opportunity or
a full-time position and our professional staff can assist you with resume writing
tips that highlight your qualifications.
Interview Preparation
We will practice with you to improve your interviewing skills. Your resume might get
you an interview, but it is the interview that will help you make the most of your
opportunity.
