Introducing the Innovation on Main podcast

The first college-sponsored podcast at the University of South Carolina

 June 28, 2019

Grab your earbuds or turn on your Bluetooth, because the UofSC College of Engineering and Computing is bringing their most innovative thinkers, accomplished leaders, and brightest ideas straight to your ears. Starting this July, the college is sponsoring your soon-to-be favorite outlet for everything engineering and computing. Welcome to the start of the Innovation on Main podcast – we hope you enjoy!

This podcast will bring in guests at the forefront of science and technology innovation to discuss the impact that their research has on listeners. Whether it is clarifying the ethical dilemmas surrounding artificial intelligence, decreasing traffic on morning commutes, or mitigating the dangers of natural disasters, guests will discuss how their work today will affect lives tomorrow.

Now, we know that many of you will know our guests personally or will be deeply knowledgeable about many of the subjects we discuss. Because of that, we want your involvement! Our episodes will also feature a “mailbox session,” allowing you to ask the upcoming guest any question. Maybe you want to ask a very specific question about the nitty gritty of their research, or maybe you are just curious if they have any pets, or a favorite barbeque restaurant in the Columbia area.

Whatever it is, we want you to be an integral part of this podcast. In the week leading up to recording, listeners will be told the name and expertise of the guest via the CEC’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Then, the guest will be asked the best questions submitted to the mailbag.

Starting at the end of July, tune in every two weeks to Spotify, iTunes or Stitcher to hear the newest episode of Innovation on Main, brought to you by host Abe Danaher and the College of Engineering and Computing!
