A senior chemical engineering student landed a unique internship in Scotland where he will develop plans for decommissioning offshore oil rigs in the North Sea. James Foster, who will graduate from USC in December, will travel to Aberdeen, Scotland in May to begin the internship with URS corporation – a leading provider of engineering, construction, and technical services for public and private companies around the world.
Foster will work on a project to research and develop plans to begin the decommissioning of several oil rigs in a environmentally safe way.
"I look forward to a new challenge professionally but also, I am excited about immersing myself in a new culture and really diving in to this new experience," said Foster.
The 22 year old from Aiken also interned last summer with Savannah River Remediation, a company led by URS. Foster hopes the internship will also allow him to experience the project management aspect of engineering.
