Registration 
Registration for the conference is now open. Please follow these directions from the Clarion Hotel to get to the Conference location (8th floor or the Close/Hipp Building aka the Business School or "BA Building"). You will receive a conference folder with more information there.

The registration fee is $100 for non-student participants and $45 for students. This fee includes a banquet, opening and closing receptions, coffee breaks, and a one-year subscription to the journal Intertexts.

Please follow the instructions in the registration form, and mail the check (payable to “CPLT Conference 2010) and the completed registration form to Dr. Jeanne Garane by February 10, 2010. After February 10, the registration rates will be $110 for non-student participants and $55 for students.

Directions to the hotel

We have got a special group rate from the Clarion Hotel (http://www.clarionhotelcolumbia.com/). The room rate is $ 92 per night, which includes breakfast. With taxes, the total will be approximately $104 per night. In order to have the special rate, please call the hotel by February 9, 2010 at 1-800-277-8711 or (803) 771-8711 to make a reservation. You need to tell them that you are a participant of the conference. For those who are traveling from outside the US, in order to get the group rate, please email Ms. Stephanie Duffee (sduffee@clarionhotelcolumbia.com) to make a reservation by February 9. You need to provide her such information as check-in and checkout dates.

Call for Papers

A lot has been said about bodies, yet the body still remains one of the most contested concepts in a wide range of fields, such as art, anthropology, history, literature, medicine, philosophy, religion, as well as the study of gender and sexuality.  Thinking about bodies has occasioned ongoing encounters, clashes, and border-crossings between these disciplines.

The Program in Comparative Literature at the University of South Carolina invites submissions to an interdisciplinary conference entitled “Bodies,” to be held in Columbia, SC, February 25-27, 2010. We welcome papers and panels that examine bodies from any angle, and we especially encourage cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approaches. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
