Our host institution is The Center for Cross-Cultural Study (Spanish Studies Abroad)

Hosted by the Center for Cross-Cultural Study (Spanish Studies Abroad), the USC Global Classroom Program offers:

  • A comprehensive, customized cultural travel program in Cuba including local study visits, diverse cultural activities and bilingual on-site support, and a unique opportunity to experience Cuban culture.
  • All courses are taught in Spanish by highly qualified Cuba university professors with extensive experience in teaching American students.
  • Students will be awarded 6 hours of credit. 3 will be received for SPAN 350, a language course, and 3 will be transfer credits for the culture course (SPAN 002T or SPAN 003T). Both may be applied to the Spanish major, minor, elective, or general university credit.
  • In addition to classroom work, cultural and academic excursions are included weekly to enhance and complement the material. All-inclusive program-sponsored excursions to places such as Old Havana, the Museum of the Revolution, Las Terrazas, farmers' markets, grassroots community centers, and jazz, salsa and hip-hop concerts.
  • Two (2) Speaking Partners activities with local Cuban students
  • Three (3) Service-learning projects
  • While in Havana, participants in our program will reside with local families in a homestay option unique to our program. Weekly laundry and daily breakfast and dinner included.
