Welcome to Carolina's Ideas, an online suggestion box.
This site serves as a portal to the broader University of South Carolina community, including prospective, current and former students; active and retired faculty and staff; members of the various communities we serve; and all friends of our University around the world.
When I took office Aug. 1 on a brilliant Friday morning, I announced that much of what I must do in order to help lead our great University forward is to listen.
As many of you know, I began by asking our student body to guide me on the selection of a car. I gave some parameters involving environmental and safety standards, but apart from those, the choice was left to the students. My main intent was to demonstrate to our students that I listen and that I hear.
Carolina's Ideas is in some ways an "online suggestion box," but it goes well beyond that. I welcome your thoughts and suggestions for improving effectiveness and efficiency throughout our eight-campus system, and this site provides a convenient, easy-to-use channel for that purpose. I will also use this site from time to time to ask for your reactions to questions aimed at targeted areas of interest to the University's direction.
I want you to know that every message will be read and your voice will be heard. Occasionally I will use the site to convey information about a key issue that has arisen from Carolina's Ideas.
Now that you've found the site, you know how to find me easily and conveniently. For now, I want to hear your ideas that will help the University system achieve our mission more efficiently and effectively. If you have such an idea handy now, please submit it. As ideas occur to you in the future, you know where I am.
Sincerely,

Harris Pastides
President, University of South Carolina
