About the Summit Scholarship

Dr. Hickey's goal for the Summit Scholarship is simple. One dollar for every foot he ascends on his way to the top of Mount Everest.

It's easy to give
You may choose to make a one-time donation or to pledge an amount to be fulfilled over a period of time. You can even make your gift online here's how:
1. Fill out all information as described
2. When you reach "Contribution Information", enter as follows:
3. Division/Campus: SELECT "Columbia Nursing"
4. Category: SELECT "Scholarships"
5. Gift Description: SELECT "Summit Scholarship Endowment Fund"

If you'd like to pay by check, please make payable to USC Educational Foundation and indicate Gift to the Summit Scholarship in the memo section.

Once the goal is reached, the University's Educational Foundation will create an endowed fund that will provide a permanent annual scholarship for a nursing student in need of financial assistance.

Levels of giving

Mount Everest (Nepal)
$5,000 + gift

Mount Vinson (Antarctica)
$2,500 - $4,999 gift

Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
$1,000 - $2,499 gift

Mount McKinley (Alaska)
$10 - $999 gift

All gifts to USC Foundations are used to support the University of South Carolina. Checks can also be made payable to the University Treasurer's Office; these gifts are managed by the state of South Carolina. All gifts qualify as tax deductions under appropriate laws.
