The Economic Impact of USC Lancaster
Established in 1959, USC Lancaster has become a comprehensive learning center that enrolls about 1,200 full- and part-time students from a service area of six counties. Through a broad commitment to equity, an extensive scholarship and financial aid program, and a variety of weekday and evening course offerings, USC Lancaster seeks to make education accessible, affordable, and convenient. USC Lancaster opened the $10.7 million James A. Bradley Arts and Sciences Building in 2000, and in 2003, completed the expansion and renovation of Medford Library.
USC Lancaster programs and initiatives include:
• the highest graduation rate of any of the regional campuses or technical colleges in the state of South Carolina for the third straight year.
• the TRIO Upward Bound Program, a partnership with the Lancaster County School District designed to encourage at-risk students at three area high schools to complete their secondary education and to enter college.
• the Gregory Health and Wellness Center, which maintains a membership of nearly 1,800 community members. The USC Lancaster Diabetes Education Clinic and the new Pediatric Obesity Clinic have been added to the campus' Health Services Center, which includes a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and a Physical Therapy Program.
• a faculty team who collaborated on the design and implementation of a strategic plan for Lancaster County.
