Background
Julian H. Fincher, Ph.D., dean emeritus of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, dedicated his career to advancing pharmacy education and practice.
Serving as dean from 1978 to 1996, Dr. Fincher played a pivotal role in shaping the college’s curriculum, fostering innovation in pharmaceutical research, and mentoring generations of pharmacists. He began his tenure at the College of Pharmacy in 1972 as a faculty member and served in various leadership roles until his retirement in 2001.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Fincher received South Carolina Pharmacy Association Bowl of Hygeia award in 1996 and the college’s Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award in 2007. Beyond his academic and leadership roles, he has been actively involved in preserving the history of pharmacy through his work with the South Carolina Pharmacy Museum, ensuring that future generations appreciate the rich heritage of the profession. His legacy continues to inspire excellence in pharmacy education and practice.
