Background

Dr. Carrier has over sixteen years of experience in medical education, specializing in neuropharmacology, but has taught a wide range of topics across all body systems. Recognized nationally, she was awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of Pharmacology Educators by the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) in 2018. Dr. Carrier is also trained in item writing by both the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME). For the past sixteen years, she has served as a Subject Matter Expert and National Faculty for the NBOME, contributing extensively to the COMLEX-USA exam series. She currently chairs the NBOME Pharmacology Foundational Biomedical Sciences content exam, which she helped develop.

In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Carrier has significant experience in curricular and institutional assessment. She has managed the entire examination development process, including assessment strategies, feedback, software, and performance dashboards. Dr. Carrier has also developed policies and procedures for both on-site and remote testing, ensuring exam security and support. Further, she is well-versed in continuous quality improvement measures and has created methods for data collection and analysis to contribute to both curricular and institution action plans. Lastly, Dr. Carrier is dedicated to student success and advises students using their performance data to guide their learning. Her work in data collection and dashboarding was enhanced by training as a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar in “A Systems Approach to Assessment in Health Professions Education.”
