USC College of Pharmacy Celebrates Milestone ASHP Match Day Results

The USC College of Pharmacy congratulates its graduating students on an outstanding showing in this year's American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Pharmacy Residency Match — a pivotal milestone for pharmacists pursuing advanced postgraduate training.

An impressive 92.3% of student pharmacists matched to postgraduate year one residency programs, reflecting the exceptional preparation and competitive caliber of USC pharmacy graduates. In total, the class secured 36 PGY1 residencies and seven fellowships, a testament to the rigorous clinical and didactic training students receive throughout their time at the College of Pharmacy.

They have dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort to this process, and seeing them earn positions at some of the top programs in the country is a true reflection of the well-rounded training they've received at USC.

Alumni also saw remarkable success in the PGY2 match cycle. Twenty-five alumni advanced to specialized second-year residencies, spanning a wide range of practice areas such as ambulatory care, critical care, emergency medicine, informatics, infectious diseases, internal medicine, oncology, pediatric oncology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and solid organ transplant.

Matched students will train across 18 states, earning positions at some of the nation's most prestigious health systems, including Duke University Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Notably, 10 graduates will remain in South Carolina, where the need for highly skilled pharmacists continues to grow. Several will serve in underserved and rural communities, including positions at Hope Health and McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, as well as Columbia VA Medical Center, where they will provide vital care for the state's veteran population. Their commitment to staying close to home reflects a dedication not only to their profession, but to the communities that shaped them.

Professor Brandon Bookstaver is director of the college's residency and fellowship training program and leads the pre-residency track to help students prepare for Match Day.

"I am so proud of what our graduates have accomplished this Match Day. They have dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort to this process and seeing them earn positions at some of the top programs in the country, while others choose to serve right here in South Carolina, is a true reflection of the well-rounded training they've received at USC."
