E-Week Open House
The University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering and Computing hosted it's annual "Engineers Week Open House" on Saturday, February 16, 2019. It was the college's largest open house yet--with 1,400 people in attendance.
The National Engineers Week Foundation and the College of Engineering and Computing work together to attract children and teenagers to engineering and computer science fields. Open house is an opportunity for kindergarten through 12th grade students to experience how interesting and exciting engineering and computer science can be. With over 40 interactive exhibits that highlight the college's academic programs and research, students had all of their engineering and computing questions answered as they dived deeper into the different fields. The most popular exhibits at this year’s open house were a cornstarch pool lead by our American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and Chemical Engineering Department, Scrumptious Science -Making Ice Cream is cool! lead by Society of Woman Engineers (SWE), array of Tesla vehicles along with our Society of Automotive Engineers, and Edible Landfills with our Civil Engineering Department.
