Background

Dr. Rocheleau’s group has interest in machine design and machine component design. His group has done work in optimizing the design of epicyclic gear trains to ensure long life and reduced noise. Work has also been done in helping small to medium size companies in a wide area of product design issues. The design concepts are modeled using Pro/ENGINEER design software and analyses are performed with a variety of computer-aided-engineering tools. His group has done work in the modeling of balance of plants in a PEM fuel cell system. Overall design issues involving kinematic and dynamics of mechanisms, from robots to prosthetic devices, have also been performed. Dr. Rocheleau holds several patents, primarily in new product innovation devices.
