
Dance Program Founder Receives Order of the Palmetto
Distinguished Professor Emeritus Susan Anderson was presented with the state's highest civilian award April 9.
Recognized by Dance Magazine as one of the top non-conservatory programs in the country, the University of South Carolina Dance Program combines a rigorous dance classroom and studio environment with the extensive depth and breadth of a superior liberal arts education.
It is the mission of the UofSC Dance Program to prepare emerging leaders and future professionals who can successfully function in a variety of career paths within and outside of the field of dance. To achieve this mission, curriculum, pedagogy, and faculty research focus on dance as a catalyst for critical thinking, community outreach, and advocacy while maintaining high-quality artistic collaborations at the core of educational experiences.
The dance program, which has established a notable legacy of excellence, attracts
highly motivated students from across the country and abroad. Our students are committed
to rigorous development of their natural abilities through a combination of study
and practice, leading to a life enriched by the art of dance.
Auditions for the UofSC Dance Program are conducted by video submission through the
Acceptd website. There are two application deadlines for video auditions -- one in November
and another in February.
The UofSC Dance Program presents an annual season of performances that strive to inspire, entertain and achieve ever greater heights of artistic excellence. From traditional and avant-garde choreography to timeless classical treasures, our season showcases the artistry and artists of our program.
