Ballet Stars of New York

A highlight of our annual performance season is our "Ballet Stars of New York" concert, which features principal dancers from the New York City Ballet performing alongside our student company. Past guests include such luminaries as Wendy Whalen, Albert Evans, Sara Mearns, Megan Fairchild, Charles Askegard and Jared Angle. Last year, 30 student dancers performed in the concert. The performance is followed by a gala fundraiser for dance at USC.

Artists and Guest Artists

We regularly bring in well-known guest artists to stage major pieces or create work on our dancers. Recent guests include:

  • Chris Uchida (Twyla Tharp Dance)
  • Lila York (Paul Taylor Dance Company)
  • Nathan Trice (Complexions, nathantrice/RITUALS)
  • Amanda Miller (William Forsythe's Ballet Frankfurt)
  • Lynne Taylor-Corbett (Tony-winning choreographer)
  • Cathy McCann Buck (Paul Taylor Dance Company)

Original works by Thaddeus Davis and Tanya Wideman-Davis, of our resident professional dance company Wideman/Davis Dance, are also regularly created for (and with) our dancers. Students also have the opportunity to stage their own choreography in our Student Choreography Showcase performances.
