Having a professor that was so impassioned about politics and caring about his students after that many years in his career assured me that I was in the right place. I decided to apply for Washington Semester that fall and was accepted. I am not sure if I would have regained my passion for politics had it not been for Dr. Fowler.

Career plans: My aspiration is to become a lawyer who works in the political field, ideally in election law.

Most impactful experience: My most impactful experience was being able to participate in the Washington Semester Program the semester of the first impeachment of Donald Trump and the semester the COVID-19 pandemic began. I was working in the nation's capitol and had a first-hand look at some of the most historic events in our country.

Best part of the Top Scholars program: I enjoy the community that becomes with being a Top Scholar. Everyone is motivated and aiming to achieve their goals, but they also are very supportive of those around them.

UofSC Story: Fall of sophomore year I was still not sure I had made the right decision to come to UofSC. However, that all changed when I walked into Dr. Fowler's Southern Politics class. One of the first weeks, he invited our entire class to his house to meet one of the 2020 Presidential Primary candidates.
