Nothing going according to plan was the best thing that has happened to me.
Career plans: Long term, I hope to work in financial planning or risk management within the tourism industry on an international level. I would love to work for a global hospitality company, especially within the hotel and resort area of the industry.
Most impactful experience: Getting involved on campus shaped my time at South Carolina more than I ever would
have expected. My growth as a college student can mostly be attributed to the leadership
skills, professional development and confidence that arose from my involvement in
various organizations like University Ambassadors and Alpha Gamma Delta.
Best part of the Top Scholars program: My favorite aspect of being a Top Scholar was being surrounded by others who inspired
me to work hard and surpass my goals while still taking time to enjoy the college
experience. The friends and memories that I've made from being a Top Scholar will
be ones I cherish for a long time to come.
UofSC Story: My time at UofSC will be shaped by the twist and turns of the past few years. Quite literally, nothing went according to plan during my time here. From internships to career plans to study abroad, the events of the world threw a spiral in my life I was never expecting. As someone who has always planned every detail of my future, life being turned on its head was a wake up call I didn't realize I needed. I've always struggled to prioritize my own happiness and health over academic or extracurricular success. It may have taken my two dream internships getting cancelled in 2020, but I went into 2021 with no expectations for the first time in my life. Between studying abroad in a city I knew nothing about and an internship in a field I had no experience in, 2021 taught me how to fall in love with living life again. I will always equate my time here with growth and unexpected happiness.
