As a native of Cincinnati, I am grateful for my time as a Gamecock not only because I was able to call home to such a welcoming community for my four years as an undergraduate, but also because I was able to experience somewhere notably different than where I am from.

Career plans: My most immediate plans are to finish my medical school education, after which I am excited to enter one of the specialties that I will get to explore in my clinical years. As of now, I am interested in working in emergency medicine or primary care. I hope to work with underserved and protected populations throughout my career, as well as integrate my medical education with my interests in the outdoors through wilderness medicine studies.

Most impactful experience: As an undergraduate at UofSC, I devoted much of my time to conducting research pertaining to breast cancer immunobiology, serving not only as an extension of my coursework but also preparing me in particular for medical school and medical research. This experience has prepared me for an upcoming project this summer focusing on prison population health, and I believe my experience has prepared me to best serve this community.

Best part of the Top Scholars program: As a member of the scholar community, I was most grateful for the community of friends and classmates that I was able to become close to beginning even before I came to USC; I have been particularly grateful for this as I have continued my educational journey in medical school, and now study for med school exams with the some of the same faces I met during my scholar weekend.

UofSC Story: As a native of Cincinnati, I am grateful for my time as a Gamecock not only because I was able to call home to such a welcoming community for my four years as an undergraduate, but also because I was able to experience somewhere notably different than where I am from and to get to learn from the community of South Carolina. As a student, I have enjoyed tailgates, football games and exploring the natural environment of the southeast with both its beaches and mountains, and as an aspiring physician I have been grateful to learn from the demographics and infrastructure of a new region and get to understand how they inform the health of South Carolina residents whom I hope to one day serve.
