About this Fellowship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities either as (non-degree) student or regular student for a degree under the Japanese Government.
Applicants must be a prospective or college graduate and a citizen residing in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. Japanese language proficiency, while encouraged, is not a requirement. Interested applicants must apply through the Japanese Consulate in Atlanta. See website for details.
Award Value
Each grantee will be provided ¥143,000 per month for non-degree research, ¥144,000 per month for Master's courses, and ¥145,000 per month for Doctoral courses. An additional monthly stipend of 2,000 or 3,000 yen may be provided to those undertaking study or research in specially designated regions.
