RSF Dissertation Fellowship Deadline

The Russell Sage Foundation Dissertation Research Grant supports one year of work on dissertations in the social sciences that address questions relevant to RSF’s priority areas: Behavioral Science and Decision Making in Context; Future of Work; Race, Ethnicity and Immigration; Immigration and Immigrant Integration; and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality.
The dissertation grant is to fund research that will contribute to RSF’s mission to improve social and living conditions in the U.S., and should demonstrate appropriate use of relevant theory, innovative data, rigorous research methods, and measures. Applicants must have completed all degree requirements except the dissertation.
RSF grants support all aspects of dissertation research (data collection, data preparation, data analysis, and writing), but they are not intended for students who have completed data collection and propose to spend the entire grant period finishing the dissertation.
Up to $10,000 for research-related expenses (up to $5,000 may be used as a stipend)

Offered primarily in Social Science fields, these awards provide support to graduate students for expenses related to dissertation research. Amounts vary depending on discipline, but can range from $12,000 to $20,000 over one or two years.
Dissertation writing fellowship for PhD students in the social sciences whose research is engaged in issues of social and/or environmental justice and who support the Center for Engaged Scholarship’s mission to make the United States “a more democratic, more egalitarian, and more environmentally sustainable society.” $25,000 stipend (paid over nine months)
The Horowitz Foundation grant supports emerging social policy scholars whose research projects address contemporary issues. Applicants must be PhD students in the social sciences conducting research with a policy application. Awardees receive up to $7,500 ($5,000 initially and then an additional $2,500 upon completion of a project related to their research).
