About this Fellowship

This DoD initiative promotes critical language education, study abroad, and intercultural dialogue opportunities through language study for ROTC students. Applicants can choose domestic and study abroad programs for a semester, academic year, or summer.

Project Global Officer will not conduct a scholarship competition for language immersion programs in Summer 2026. For similar language-learning opportunities, consider applying to the Critical Language Scholarship, Boren Awards, or Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships.

Students must be on track to commission through the Army, Naval, or Air Force ROTC, contracted or non-contracted, or a Marine Platoon Leaders Class student. Recipients will be selected with consideration for academic merit, language experience (any proficiency is acceptable), cultural sensitivity, leadership, and commitment to the Project GO mission.

Please note: Students applying to study abroad with Project GO must also complete the study abroad application process with the Education Abroad Office. See more information about the study abroad application process and their deadlines at the Education Abroad website.

Current graduate students applying to study abroad must also submit information to the Education Abroad Office at least 30 days prior to departure. See their website for more information.
