About this Fellowship
The MMSP supports future civil rights lawyers in the South through a full law school scholarship, summer internships, a postgraduate fellowship, and training in return for an 8 year post-fellowship commitment to practice law focused on achieving racial justice in the South.
Established by the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund (LDF), the MMSP supports aspiring lawyers dedicated to pursuing racial justice in the South. Scholars receive a full law school scholarship (tuition, room and board, and incidentals), summer internships with national and legal civil rights organizations, a two-year postgraduate fellowship at a civil rights law organization in the South, and training opportunities through the LDF and National Academy of Sciences. Scholars commit to serving as civil rights lawyers in the South for 8 years after their fellowship, with continued support from the MMSP.
