Japan Exchange and Teaching Program

Supports those interested in teaching English in Japanese schools and government offices.

The JET Program seeks participants who are adaptable, outgoing, and who have a deep interest in Japan. Participants are invited to Japan to serve as cultural ambassadors from their home countries. As such, they are expected to be responsible in all their activities, particularly those concerning the promotion of mutual understanding between nations.

Initial appointments are for 10 months, but can be renewed for up to a total of 5 years in Japan.

Award Value

Annual salary based on length of time with the program, and travel expenses to Japan.
