Hands-on summer undergraduate research experiences at some of the nation’s leading educational institutions in fields such as biochemistry, immunology, neuroscience, and statistics for students interested in pursuing a PhD or MD-PhD.
As Amgen Scholars, students will have the opportunity to:
• Take part in important university research projects, gain hands-on lab experience and contribute to the advancement of science;
• Interact with and receive guidance from faculty mentors, including some of the nation’s top academic scientists; and
• Attend scientific seminars, workshops and other networking events.
Each U.S. host university has its own application process, but the application deadline for all universities is in early February. Applicants can apply to as many host institutions as they are interested in. Open to sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors.

These programs offer students the chance to complete research in a range of STEM fields at campuses across the US over the summer. Varies, but typically includes travel, room and board, as well as stipend.
The Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences offers a 10-week summer experience for undergraduates wanting to build their skills as young scientists. Awardees receive $6,000 (used to cover travel, housing, food, and other expenses).
