Dan Schumacher has accepted the position of Executive Director of Infrastructure Services. His first day at UofSC will be Thursday, August 1, 2019. He will lead departments respsonsible for the university data center, the wired and wireless networks, university email, and more. 

Schumacher has more than 20 years of experience in IT. He began his career in the U.S. Navy and has held IT positions for Sprint, Purdue University, and is currently the Director of Technology Infrastructure at the University of Hawaii. He has signifigant experience with IT vendor management, contract negotiation, data centers, networks, and telecommunications. 

He said, "I am excited to join the DoIT leadership team and the University of South Carolina. For more than 12 years, I have led higher education institutional enterprise and system-level services. My collaborative and operationally credible approach has allowed me to meet customer needs by adapting and improving infrastructure services while keeping up with the ever-changing technical landscape. My family and I are looking forward to exploring and experiencing the many opportunities that South Carolina has to offer."
