Background

Kim E. Creek, Ph.D., distinguished professor emeritus at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, joined the university in 1987 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He later transitioned to the School of Medicine Columbia and spent the final decade of his career in the Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences within the College of Pharmacy, serving as vice chair, chair, and associate dean for Research.

Dr. Creek's work centered on pharmacology, drug discovery, and biomedical sciences, with a particular focus on drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and the development of therapeutic agents for cancer and other diseases. He published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and mentored 18 doctoral students throughout his career.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Dr. Creek received the USC Educational Foundation Research for Health Sciences Award in 2014 and the Carolina Trustees Professorship Award in 2006. After 33 years of service, he retired in 2020, leaving a profound and lasting impact on the university's research community.
