Concerts are April 4 and 7 and tickets are on sale now
The University of South Carolina School of Music welcomes back the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet for their spring residency. The Quartet-in-Residency program, begun in 2013, provides world-class instruction to our students and extraordinary concerts for our community of music enthusiasts.
Inspiring performances, luminous sound, and exceptional musicianship are the hallmarks of the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet. Renowned for its dynamic interpretations and polished, expansive colors, the group has rapidly distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation.
The Quartet has appeared at the world’s most important venues since its founding in 2002. Ensemble members Daniel Chong, violin; Jessica Bodner, viola; and Kee-Hyun Kim, cello, welcome back new member Ken Hamao, violin, described by The New York Times as having “especially eloquent playing.”
In addition, the spring residency offers an extraordinary opportunity for high school students during the Chamber Music Day and String Quartet Competition. The Quartet mentors pre-formed string quartets through intensive coachings and master classes throughout the day, leading to a performance and competition in the evening. Coaches are members of the Parker Quartet and the USC School of Music string faculty. Please join us for the competition to hear these talented young artists.
The April concerts promise to be as breathtaking as ever, and the Sunday concert is free to encourage families to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
