South Carolina Saxophone Day

Saxophone players of all ages and abilities are invited to the biennial South Carolina Saxophone day at USC, led by saxophone professor Clifford Leaman and special guest Palmetto Saxophone Quartet. Experience a full day of clinics, reed classes, recitals and master classes for saxophone at the fall event.

SC Saxophone Day is Sunday, October 13, 2024

8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
USC School of Music Building (813 Assembly St., Columbia, SC)

Activities and classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced reed players ensure a day full of great learning, listening and playing experiences.

School of Music faculty members host the event, culminating with a saxophone ensemble performance by all participants.

8 a.m.       

Registration – Front Lobby Area

8:30 a.m.  

Warm-Up and Saxophone Choir Rehearsal  (Recital Hall)

10 a.m.    

 Clifford Leaman – Masterclass (Recital Hall)

11 a.m.   

Palmetto Saxophone Quartet – Sectionals/coaching

12 p.m.   

Lunch (Pizza will be provided and you may eat in Room 210, 232, the lobby area, or the tables outside the recital hall)

1:30 p.m.    

Palmetto Saxophone Quartet – Concert (Recital Hall) 

2:30 p.m.

Allstate Preparation Clinic: Dr. Leaman (Recital Hall)

3:30 p.m.

Saxophone Choir Dress Rehearsal and Photo  (Recital Hall)

4:30 p.m. 

Combined Final Concert – USC Saxophone Ensembles  (Recital Hall)

Cost

$40 registration covers all activities and lunch. Walk-up registration is $45. Parents may attend for free.
Registration check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and events start at 9:30 a.m.
