The Spark Collective, a collaborative, multi-genre ensemble, develops skills in community and audience engagement. The new group provides innovative, engaging performances for diverse audiences, and participating graduate students receive a stipend of $4000 per year for a weekly time commitment of 8-10 hours.
If you like to creatively explore different genres of music and are interested in meaningful collaborations with other musicians and your community, you can apply to be a member. The application deadline is March 7, 2017.
Five outstanding graduate student performers will be chosen for the inaugural year from submitted applications. Students should have additional skills to benefit the ensemble that could include experience with secondary instruments, improvisation, composing, arranging, multiple genres, theater, dance and media skills.
Members of the Spark Collective take part in a varied curriculum, developing innovative performance skills; designing community engagement initiatives and collaborating with local organizations; improvising, composing, arranging, transcribing, recording and commissioning music; and developing and producing music videos, websites and other marketing tools.
