Three students from the School of Music’s flute studio compete against hundreds nationwide
Three national flute performance competitions can boast winners from the University
of South Carolina. Samantha Marshall won the Flute Society of Washington Collegiate Soloist Competition, Philip Snyder was winner of the Flute Society of Kentucky Young Artist Competition, and Zachary Warren was the winner of the Florida Flute Association Young Artist Competition.
All three competitors were selected as finalists based on their submitted recordings.
Each then traveled to their respective competition to compete in the live final rounds.
Samantha Marshall is a senior flute performance major from Charlottesville, VA; Philip
Snyder is a first year doctoral flute performance student from Chapel Hill, NC; and
Zach Warren is a junior flute performance major from Charlotte, NC. All three students
study with associate professor of flute, Jennifer Parker-Harley.
