The Savvy Musician in ACTION recognized by arts and humanities organizations
The Humanities Council of SC and the Cultural Council of Richland & Lexington Counties have awarded SPARK’s summer workshop, The Savvy Musician in ACTION, the Innovation Award. The award was presented October 23, 2014, in conjunction with National Arts and Humanities Month to recognize the best of Arts and Humanities in the Midlands and South Carolina.
The USC School of Music’s arts entrepreneurship workshop, directed by Dr. David Cutler, is an annual summer boot camp designed to empower participants to maximize income and impact. The intensive five-day workshop includes national thought leaders and experts and also hosts a nationwide Chamber Ensemble Competition that received raves from Free Times editor, Dan Cook, last year at the winners showcase at Tapp’s Art Center in June.
The third annual Savvy Musician in ACTION takes place June 3–7, 2015. Among the nationally recognized presenters for the upcoming workshop are Greg Sandow, Arts Journal blogger on The Future of Classical Music; Adam Huttler, founder and executive director of Fractured Atlas; Dave Kusek, founder of Berklee Online and author of “The Future of Music”; Bobby Owsinski, author of “Social Media Promotion for Musicians” among many other books; Anna Schaum, sociometrist, the study of interpersonal relationships.
