Background
Jill Michels, Pharm.D., DABAT, is the managing director of the Palmetto Poison Center and a clinical associate professor at the College of Pharmacy in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcomes Sciences. She provides her expertise in toxicology in the classroom and offers an experiential site for fourth-year Pharm.D. students.
The Palmetto Poison Center is the only Poison Center for the state of South Carolina. Grant and contract awards for Michels and the Center are in the areas of public health surveillance (food poisoning, medication misuse/abuse, environmental exposures).
