It was another successful year for the College of Pharmacy’s annual Career Expo. Now in its sixth year, the expo continues to provide opportunities for students to learn more about the many careers available to them with a pharmacy degree.
By the numbers:
- 57 exhibitors took part
- 70% of the exhibitors were alumni of the College of Pharmacy
- 27 exhibitors returned from last year’s expo
- 11 states were represented including Florida, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia
- 17 career fields were represented including ambulatory care, community, compounding, consulting, hospital, home infusion, IT, industry, insurance, long term care, managed care, military, pharmacy administration, state/federal/government, and specialty pharmacy.
All first- through third-year students take part in the expo and have a chance to learn from those already working in fields in which they may be interested. And as importantly, they learn about other career options in the field of pharmacy of which they may not have been aware.
The participants noted that they enjoy sharing their experiences with the students and seeing their reactions when they learn about other fields, noting that the future of pharmacy is in good hands.
Thank you to each of our exhibitors who took time out of their schedules to share their real-world experiences. If you are interested in participating in next year’s Career Expo, contact Sarah Sipes, Associate Director of Development and Alumni Engagement.
