The Heart of a Nurse

For Marty McGirt Hucks, Halloween 1986 marked the end of one life and the beginning of another. Until almost midnight, she’d been a typical college freshman, cruising in her costume with three friends before dropping them off for the weekend. But a tire in her 1971 VW Bug blew out, causing the car to roll over I-20, throwing her friend out in the middle of oncoming traffic. In the pouring rain, her friend—incapacitated from a broken leg—lay helpless as a semi bore down upon her.

Stepping Up the Game

Bonnie Harris-Lowe is a nerd with an agenda. A self-declared child-at-heart with a love for animated television, the 2017 Honors graduate attended Comic-Con in San Diego dressed immaculately as Captain America, her favorite superhero. As much as she loves these stories and characters, she believes they can be improved-- especially within her greatest passion of all, video games.

Hollywood or High Water

To spend a summer in L.A. is common enough these days. Hordes of students make the pilgrimage each year in deference to the "you gotta start somewhere" dictum. But to spend a summer in L.A. working as an executive assistant to a producer of Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated films is much rarer.
